How it Happened
How we met
We met at work in Lagos, Nigeria, and from the very first moment, something clicked. I saw this tall, dark, incredibly handsome guy and thought, “Okay, who is that?” Turns out, he was already asking around about me too. The chemistry was instant, and so was the curiosity. It wasn’t just surface-level. We found ourselves deep in conversation, sharing inside jokes, and looking for any excuse to spend more time together. The connection felt natural, easy, and real.
The first date
At some point, we made a playful bet and agreed the winner would get to plan a date. He won, and just like that, our first proper outing was on the calendar. It wasn’t flashy or over-the-top, but it didn’t need to be. We spent the date just being ourselves, laughing, talking, and enjoying each other’s company. It was simple and sweet, and it set the tone for everything that followed.
Growing Together
Things between us moved in a way that just felt right. We knew what we wanted, and we weren’t afraid to lean into it. Before we left Nigeria, Juyin did something that meant a lot to both of us. He organized a quiet dinner where our families could meet. It wasn’t a big gathering, just a thoughtful and intimate evening at a cozy restaurant in Lagos. Our parents had the chance to talk, share stories, and connect. It was one of those moments that quietly affirmed what we already knew—we were building something that mattered.
Opposites that Fit
We’re different in all the best ways. He’s outgoing, energetic, and always up for something social. I’m more introverted, happiest in calm, quiet spaces. But somehow, we’ve always met each other in the middle. At the heart of it, we’re best friends. We respect each other’s pace, embrace what makes us different, and have built something solid on that foundation.
The Proposal
He proposed on a beach during a beautiful summer afternoon. It was intentional, heartfelt, and perfectly us. I definitely knew it was coming, but that didn’t make it any less special. Afterward, we had dinner, laughed a lot, and just took it all in. It was one of those memories that stays close, even as new ones are made.
Things we love
We love traveling, tossing around new ideas, and shopping together. He styles me better than I could ever style myself, and I welcome it everytime! Even the most everyday moments feel a little brighter when we’re doing them together.
Looking Ahead
